Attracting clients on LinkedIn goes like this

it's the simplest things that actually work

Look –

Many people think LinkedIn is a dumpster fire.

Many people flock to LinkedIn for jobs and then get scammed or need about 5 more years of that skill to answer a job ad.

As freelancers it’s slightly different but there are scams and many businesses now want writers with more skills besides writing like:

  • SEO knowledge

  • Copywriting

  • Using a project management tool like Asana

But LinkedIn is STILL where it’s at for finding good writing jobs.

To help you achieve this and more you need to attract those clients.

One way is what you post.

Know that posts that get the most engagement often don’t produce leads.

So, what posts DO bring in the leads?

Posts that focus on a narrow set of topics.

You need to tap into your client’s current reality when you post.

Here are some proven post ideas that do just that.

  • Problems (unpleasant facts of their situation)

  • Pains (how they feel about those facts)

  • Mistakes (ineffective things they try when troubleshooting)

  • Industry Norms (your competitors’ processes, practices, etc that bring sub-par results)

  • Limiting beliefs (mindset traps that prevent them from solving problems)

  • Objections (their self-defeating reasons and excuses for not hiring someone like you)

  • Insights (ideas and perspectives that make them say “hunh” and build your authority)
