Is LinkedIn Over Saturated in 2024?

What are writers to do?

There are more writers now than when I first started in 2014.

There’s also more businesses too.

Why? Because of the pandemic.

The pandemic brought in a wave of remote workers and people who wanted to work from home.

This is leading to job postings on LinkedIn wanting freelance content writers for a full-time role.

These are “fake” because those types of job ads aren’t freelancing jobs, but employee jobs. And they are even worse than those because there is no sick pay or vacation pay.

So, with the influx of new writers and the companies capitalizing on this, you might be wondering, is LinkedIn is over saturated?

Yes and no.

My feed seems to be unaffected by all of this for lack of better term, dumpster fire that is LinkedIn.

But I do know other copywriters and freelancers are struggling with getting noticed and feeling lonely because no one can see them.

They aren’t landing jobs and their posts aren’t getting a large reach.

If that’s you, it’s time to turn it around and make LinkedIn notice your profile and posts.

Here are some fast-action things you can do:

  • Add more than one title to your title. For many years I thought “freelance writer for hire” was all I needed. I mean it worked back in the day but now? I have to put in several key phrases for my service

  • Don’t shy away from AI. Show prospects you know how to use AI writing tools as an assistant. If all you post is how you hate AI tools, companies may not hire you because you aren’t evolving with the trends.

  •  Create a series of posts and schedule them. Did you know you can schedule your posts on LinkedIn? I don’t know how many you can post at the same time, but try creating several scheduled posts, so you can be more consistent. Repurpose old content like blog posts, emails or Medium posts.

  • Market your portfolio in the “features” section of your LinkedIn profile. I even added a link to my hire me page with a graphic I created in Canva.

Try these methods out, and let me know in a comment to one of my LinkedIn posts! I’d love to hear about your success.

As freelancers, we spend hours alone, writing and posting and editing.

It can feel like you're stuck in a never-ending loop, isolated and overwhelmed, with the marketing side of freelancing feeling like an unsolvable puzzle.

Well, we don't have to do this all solo.

Over the years, I've connected with amazing other freelancers and we have all helped each other since freelancing is a community.

And I have a special cozy community for you. It’s the Freelance Creator Files.

This is a newsletter where I share behind the scenes of my profitable business, how I manage it all, and take you alongside my case studies to see if I can succeed or not.

This month I’m doing a pitching challenge and I already had to update it…..oh man!
