The ONE LinkedIn Feature You Can't Afford to Ignore
yes, it can be this simple
Is LinkedIn really the best place to find writing jobs in 2024?

I get it—there's a lot to remember, do, and when ever other writer is on LinkedIn, competition is a REAL thing now.
But there's one feature that can really make a difference, and it's something I overlooked for months.
You need to remember that LinkedIn is the only social platform to help people – freelancers – find a job.
They are doing everything possible to help you optimize your presence on LinkedIn.
But for many new LinkedIn users, it’s overwhelming.
I’ve had my profile since 2014 but over those years LinkedIn has massively changed.
They opened up a creator side, added more features and is working hard to be a competitor to platforms like Upwork.
So, what’s this feature that maybe YOU haven’t turned on?
It’s the LinkedIn Services Marketplace feature.
By filling this out and enabling it, you can add a “services” section in your profile.

Here’s mine.

It’s located under your About section.
Now, most freelance writers will only add the services to this section.
For example, freelancer Dave McCreery has the Services section enabled (FYI, I had to search for several freelance writing profiles for this. Many did NOT have this featured turned on).
But, Dave hasn’t optimized this feature and only added his services.

As you can see with my Services section, I added information and samples of my writing, effectively turning my profile into my writer website!
But, does this REALLY work to help you land writing jobs on LinkedIn?
Yes!
A LinkedIn coach said this,
“A client reached out to me today because they found my profile on the Service Marketplace page.
We exchanged messages, within 30 minutes, we sealed the deal.
This is a gentle reminder for everyone providing consulting or coaching services.
DO NOT forget to activate the “providing services” feature. You’ll be surprised by the opportunities it can bring your way.”
This does work so give it a try.
I want to ask ask you something now…
Some of you may know, I have a paid newsletter called The Freelance Creator Files.
I sent my latest newsletter last week detailing the challenge I undertook and started a new challenge.
My list of subscribers is slowly growing and I want to thank everyone who has subscribed.
I want to add more to this newsletter and want to know what you want to see?
Some suggestions:
1 small video tutorial/lesson in the creator side of my business. One example: how I’m using Midjourney, Canva and Photoshop, to make amazing images.
3-5 hooks/ideas for social content and email
AI prompts that I find helpful for my freelance and creator business
?
I’m also toying with doing this weekly. So one week is an inspo stash of ideas and next week my BTS stuff like how much my freelance business made and my challenges.
What do you think?
