What are the top job titles of your LinkedIn searchers?

Does this help in landing a client?

In 2024, I made it a task to always be looking at ways to up my LinkedIn game.

See, before 2024, I would post on LinkedIn whenever I wanted to or very sporadically.

I NEVER checked my DM’s, and I NEVER changed my banner or title.

I also rarely updated my experience section or bio section.

But, something shifted in 2024.

I found a new outlook in life (probably because I had surgery to remove my big ol’ thyroid that was impacting my breathing), and I was excited to create content.

Lots and lots of content.

Here’s a post on X I published on what I’ve created so far.

As you can see, because of this boost in content my LinkedIn profile visibility increased.

But I wanted to see WHO was looking at my profile.

What were the job titles of these searchers who happened to land on my LinkedIn profile?

In your Analytics section, you can scroll down to see the job titles of your searches. Here are mine:

The top job titles are author and journalist, instead of founder or marketing specialist.

This impacts the likelihood of landing a job from LinkedIn.

I do get a lot of writers, freelancers, authors and journalists wanted to connect with me but lately, I haven’t been accepting those connections.

I want my profile to attract founders, execs, marketers and editors who HIRE writers.

But that’s hard because a lot of my LinkedIn posts are geared for freelancers.

So, I feel because of this, I have to work extra hard at getting in front of the right people on LinkedIn.

The best way is to connect with the right people and the next best way is to write the right posts (something I’m trying to weave into my process).

In my next newsletter I’ll share the top LinkedIn post ideas for you to help you get in front of your idea clients!

Be on the lookout for that one!

In the meantime, work on connecting with and without a note to content leads, managers and head of content people!

Freelancing can seem lonely. It can also feel like we are competing.

Well, I’m not letting that happen and want to share what I’m doing as a freelancer.

In my Freelance Creator Files Newsletter, I will share my inner thoughts, my business income, and my strategies for freelancing and for creators.

My first case study/challenge is already underway: cold pitching.

Oh man! It’s NOT like how I expected this to go!

The next newsletter will go out on May 22 where I’ll share my pivot.
